[Remote] Manager, Duty Drawback

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Altria is a Fortune 500 company known for its iconic brands, seeking a Manager, Duty Drawback to lead their duty drawback program. The role involves managing customs compliance, overseeing the claim process, and ensuring regulatory compliance while working with various stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit duty drawback entries, ensuring accuracy, timely filing, and compliance with CBP requirements
  • Perform required data gathering and validation with internal and external stakeholders, such as Manufacturing, Warehousing, Logistics, and third-party Customs brokers
  • Support internal company clients in maintaining overall compliance with CBP duty drawback regulations
  • Utilize data analytics and technology to improve processes and optimize the Duty Drawback Program
  • Review and manage inventory receipts and withdrawal records to ensure accurate drawback filings, including identifying and reconciling discrepancies to maintain compliance and maximize recoverable duties
  • Maintain meticulous records and respond to CBP inquiries and audits
  • Work with outside counsel as necessary to address regulatory issues
  • Create and maintain drawback policies and procedures
  • Train key personnel on duty drawback requirements

Skills

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in duty drawback support
  • 3 years of experience preparing and filing duty drawback claims
  • 6+ years of professional experience in customs and trade compliance, including a minimum of 3 years dedicated to preparing and filing Duty Drawback claims in roles such as customs broker, industry trade specialist, US Customs drawback auditor, import specialist, or similar positions
  • Experience with the preparation and filing of manufacturing, substitution, and same-condition drawback claims
  • Experience filing duty drawback under TFTEA requirements
  • Hands-on experience with ACE, Drawback software, and other supply chain systems
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple time-sensitive projects at once
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact at all levels within and outside of the company
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong preference for candidates who possess a Customs broker license or are certified as a Duty Drawback specialist, Customs specialist or classification specialist
