[Remote] Entry-Level Technical Writer – AI & Open Source

They are seeking an Entry-Level Technical Writer to create clear and engaging documentation for developers working with their AI products and open-source projects, collaborating closely with technical teams to ensure accuracy and usability.


Responsibilities

  • Write Developer-Focused Documentation: Create and maintain tutorials, API references, conceptual guides, and troubleshooting content for IBM’s AI offerings and open-source tools
  • Simplify Complex Concepts: Translate technical information into clear, concise, and accessible content for developers of varying skill levels
  • Collaborate with Technical Teams: Work closely with engineering, product, and advocacy teams to gather information, validate accuracy, and stay aligned with product updates
  • Support the Developer Journey: Ensure documentation covers the full developer experience—from onboarding and setup to advanced integrations and optimization
  • Improve Content Continuously: Monitor feedback channels, analyze usage data, and iterate on documentation to improve clarity, completeness, and usability
  • Contribute to Open Source: Participate in documentation efforts for open-source projects, including README files, contribution guides, and community wikis

Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, structure, and developer empathy
  • Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and software development workflows
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and open-source ecosystems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation projects
  • Experience using documentation tools such as Markdown, Git, and static site generators (e.g., Docusaurus, MkDocs)
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Passion for hands-on learning
  • Experience writing for APIs, SDKs, or developer tools
  • Familiarity with IBM technologies (e.g., watsonx, IBM Cloud, Red Hat)
  • Understanding of version control systems and collaborative development practices
  • Exposure to user research or usability testing for documentation
