Attorney, Global Employment Litigation

About the position

The Attorney for the position of Attorney, Global Employment Litigation is responsible for handling routine litigation and discovery matters, including responding to subpoenas and providing support for various litigation issues, employment, PAGA, and agency charges, along with providing daily advice and counsel to our HR teams, globally. This role involves collaborating with different business units to provide litigation and legal support. The position reports to the Legal Director, leads a team of two, and collaborates with several paralegals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage outside counsel with strategic defense of litigation matters globally, including employment, PAGA, and agency charges.
  • Manage information requests, discovery and pre-litigation filings.
  • Manage responses and objections to subpoenas and other legal documents.
  • Manage employment law compliance in collaboration with cross-functional team
  • Implement compliance frameworks stemming from litigation as needed
  • Develop and implement restaurant safety related policies and procedures, training, and compliance programs.
  • Keep apprised of, and ensure compliance with, newly enacted state, federal, and international employment laws.
  • Provide daily advice and counsel to HR teams globally.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent required.
  • Licensed member in good standing of either the New York or California State Bar, with strong preference for admission to the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent employment litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong grasp of civil procedure required.
  • Must be a team player and relationship builder, with the ability to adapt in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment and think creatively.
  • Some travel may be required.
