Quality Engineer – Heavy Engineering / Industrial Machinery

🔹 Quality Engineer – Heavy Engineering / Industrial Machinery

📍 South London 💷 £40,000 – £50,000 + Annual Bonus (up to 1 month’s salary) + comprehensive benefits

Ceto Talent is working in partnership with a long‑established heavy engineering organisation supporting complex mechanical systems across demanding industrial sectors such as energy, transport, mining and large‑scale manufacturing.
Based in South London, the business delivers both new build projects and aftermarket services, including repair, overhaul and on‑site support of large mechanical and rotating equipment. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
This role is suited to a hands‑on Quality Engineer with a strong background in heavy mechanical or industrial engineering, rather than electronics or light manufacturing environments.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting and improving quality standards across workshop, operational and service activities, working closely with engineering, production and supply chain teams.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System within a heavy engineering environment
  • Supporting workshop and operational activities involving large mechanical assemblies and industrial machinery
  • Investigating non‑conformances and leading root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Conducting internal audits and supporting external and customer audits
  • Working with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve quality issues relating to mechanical components and services
  • Managing quality documentation, inspection records and procedures
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and service operations
  • Acting as a point of contact for customer‑related quality matters

About You

This opportunity is intended for experienced Quality Engineers from heavy mechanical or industrial backgrounds. Candidates from electronics, PCB, micro‑assembly or light manufacturing environments are unlikely to be suitable.
Key requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within heavy engineering, mechanical manufacturing, repair & overhaul, or industrial machinery environments
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, audits, non‑conformance management and corrective action processes
  • Comfortable working in workshop and operational settings, not solely office‑based quality roles
  • Experience dealing with suppliers and customers in industrial sectors
  • Strong communication skills with a structured, detail‑driven approach
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis

Salary & Benefits

  • £40,000 – £50,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
  • Discretionary annual bonus – up to one month’s basic salary (pro‑rated in year of joining)
  • 36.5 hours per week
    • Monday–Thursday: 08:30–16:30
    • Friday: 08:30–15:30
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro‑rated in year one)
  • Life cover from day one
  • Private medical scheme (after qualifying period)
  • Sick pay from day one
  • Pension scheme: 3% employee / 6% employer
