As we scale our operations, we are seeking a dynamic leader to lead Human Resources efforts. The HRBP will be a strategic thought partner and serve as a trusted advisor to the Last Mile leadership team. This role will drive people strategies that support hyper-growth, operational rigor, and a mission-driven culture across a fast-paced, multi-modal logistics environment.
What the Candidate Will Do
The Director HRBP, Last Mile will play a critical role in building and scaling the infrastructure that supports last-mile operations. This individual will lead a cross-functional team responsible for ensuring integration of all Human Resources functions within the business unit for corporate functions and field functions of last mile. This role will serve as a key advisor, championing a high-performance culture while bridging and building scalable HR programs within all departments of HR that support rapid growth, operational excellence, and people-first innovation. The HRBP will be the primary liaison between the functional leadership of HR and the business and will report to the Last Mile business unit. This leader will be critical in shaping the future of our workforce - enabling leaders, empowering teams, and scaling HR solutions that fuel performance, engagement, and development across both frontline and corporate roles. We are seeking a seasoned leader with a strong HR background, a strategic mindset, and a customer-centric approach to managing across internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Leadership:
- Partner directly with the Senior Executive of Last Mile, Chief People Officer and functional leaders to translate business objectives into human capital strategies that accelerate growth and impact.
- Design and implement org structures that support agility, scalability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Use data and people analytics to drive informed decisions on workforce planning, retention, and capability building
- Leadership Enablement & Workforce Management:
- Guide and coach leaders to effectively manage and develop their teams, with a strong focus on performance management, accountability, and engagement.
- Enable managers to lead through ambiguity and complexity - supporting them with tools, training, and frameworks to manage change, motivate frontline teams, and drive clarity on roles and responsibilities.
- Support leaders in setting and communicating clear goals, delivering feedback, and executing performance improvement plans when necessary
- Drive strategic workforce and talent plans in alignment with the priorities set by business leaders, with clear, actionable steps that optimize the organization\'s talent, structure, process and culture
- Provide executive, senior, and front-line leadership coaching
- Employee Engagement, Development, Talent Management & Culture:
- Partner with L&D and Uber Freight\'s centralized HR functions to develop and scale programs around:
- Leadership development for new and experienced managers

- Career development and internal mobility

- Drive employee engagement strategies across a distributed and diverse workforce, including field, warehouse, and corporate teams.

- Conduct organizational effectiveness assessments and design workforce models that build organizational capability, recognizing industry trends applying solutions that propel the business
- HR Compliance, Operational Excellence and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to employment law, health and safety regulations, and internal policies across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Serve as a thought partner to Legal, Compliance, and other risk stakeholders as needed and partner with them to manage sensitive employee relations issues, investigations, and risk mitigation.
- Manage complex employee relations issues with empathy, consistency, and a bias for impact.
- Drive compliance with labor laws, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements across multiple geographies.
- Build and scale core HR programs including onboarding, performance management, succession planning, DEI, and retention initiatives.
- Translate business needs into HR solutions using data-driven insights and agile thinking
- Partner with centralized HR COEs (Compensation, Talent Acquisition, L&D) to ensure cohesive and tailored support for the Last Mile business unit.
- Drive HR integration strategies with M&A team and ensure seamless integration of any acquired company\'s workforce.
- HR Program Design & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead implementation and localization of HR programs in collaboration with centralized COEs including:
- Compensation - partnering to ensure market-aligned, equitable pay structures across roles
- Talent Acquisition - aligning hiring strategies with business needs and operational forecasts
- L&D / Training - bringing scalable onboarding and upskilling to a distributed workforce
- People Operations & Systems - ensuring accuracy, compliance, and HR process efficiency
- Culture & Inclusion - embedding values, recognition, and inclusion into the everyday employee experience
- Act as the connective tissue between the Last Mile business unit and corporate HR, ensuring business-specific needs are met within the enterprise framework.
- Partner with People COEs and act as the People liaison to develop customer-based solutions.
- Bachelor\'s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a strategic HRBP or Director-level role.
- Experience supporting hourly, frontline, or distributed operations workforces in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or e-commerce sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage performance cycles, org design, compensation planning, and employee relations at scale.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of leadership.
- Scalable systems-thinker with a data-driven approach to solving complex people challenges.
- Strong understanding of HR disciplines including org design, talent management, compensation, performance, and ER.
- Master\'s degree or HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Experience in both startup and mature company environments preferred
- Experience supporting a field-based or frontline operations workforce.
- Experience working in logistics, transportation or e-ecommerce
- Experience integrated acquisitions and their workforce.
