Medical Onc Certified Nurse, VCWC (Part Time, Days)

<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>At NorthBay Health, in collaboration with other cancer care providers and healthcare team members, the Oncology RN utilizes oncology-focused assessment skills and knowledge to coordinate and provide comprehensive care throughout the cancer disease continuum. The Oncology RN serves as a patient advocate, educator, and liaison among inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings.<br><br>The Oncology RN applies the nursing process in the delivery of patient care, including administering infusion treatments; monitoring patients during and after treatment; assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients receiving treatment; assessing for adverse reactions; evaluating patient responses to treatment; and managing symptoms related to both treatment and the disease process. The Oncology RN demonstrates strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, close attention to detail, and sensitivity and empathy in all interactions with patients and caregivers. Organizational standards established by The Joint Commission, Patient Safety initiatives, and the Department of Health are consistently met or exceeded.<br><br>In addition, the Oncology Nurse serves as a specialized resource for nursing departments and the Patient Care Services Division. Responsibilities include providing ongoing education to NorthBay staff nurses regarding the care of oncology patients, offering case consultation, and supporting program services. The Oncology Nurse maintains Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.<br><br><strong>Education<br><br></strong><strong> QUALIFICATIONS <br><br></strong><ul><li> Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. </li><li> BSN required. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Licensure/Certifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Current California RN License. </li><li> Current AHA or equivalent certification in Basic CPR. </li><li> ONS Chemotherapy Provider Certification, national OCN certification and internal certifications in Chemotherapy Administration. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Experience<br><br></strong><ul><li> Minimum of two year’s acute care experience with oncology emphasis required. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li> Demonstrates competence in clinical specialty (oncology) </li><li> Experienced in the administration of chemotherapy and biologics including the recognition and management of adverse side effects. </li><li> Demonstrates effective time management. </li><li> Capable of working independently. </li><li> Is able to provide formal education/in-service to staff and /or patients.</li></ul>
