This position serves our partners at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) within the Department of Public Safety (DPS). MNIT BCA provides comprehensive IT operations and support services, custom application development, and dedicated business-specific support functions for investigative and specialized law enforcement services. You will support an agency that partners with law enforcement, public safety, and criminal justice agencies to prevent and solve crimes.

As a Desktop Support Analyst, you will provide computer support services for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

Responsibilities include:

+ System build, deployment, and support.

+ PC, mobile, applications/software support.

+ Responding to questions regarding application functions and problems encountered.

+ Support BCA user software.

+ Provide hardware installation and maintenance.

+ TCP/IP network configuration.

+ Provide basic administration for users within the BCA.

+ Work with other technical staff within DPS and outside vendors.

**This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last three (3) years.**

**This position requires an employee to be onsite at 1430 Maryland Ave E, St Paul, Minnesota with the option to telework occasionally.** Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Position requires a minimum of one (1) year of IT related experience in providing desktop support.

Experience must include:

+ Personal computer workstations and mobile devices.

+ Server/client applications support.

+ Basic TCP/IP network understanding.

+ Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.

+ Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.

Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree or a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Enterprise support experience.

+ Comprehensive knowledge of system hardware.

+ Comprehensive understanding of networking wiring.

**Physical Requirements**

Requires regularly moving/lifting devices such as desktops, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations (desk to desk or from one agency site to another), lifting devices up on to storage shelves above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access under desks.
