Equipment Operator

Job Overview:

Under direction of Construction Manager, removal of existing asphalt, trenching, pipeline installation, bedding placement, compaction, manhole installation and basin refurbishing activities (loading trucks and stockpile soil and asphalt, effluent pipe installation, backfill, compaction, and existing basin construction). The base company wage for the Heavy Equipment Operator position is $40.00 / hr. However, for this project, the Equipment Operator position will be paid the Federal prevailing wage for work performed. The anticipated start date for this work is June 8, 2026.

Project Description: HDPE pipeline and basin infrastructure construction.

The base company wage for the Heavy Equipment Operator position is $40.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Ability to proficiently operate various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozer, wheel loader, skid steer, and/or roller compactor
  • Ability to work in team environment in safe and productive manner
  • Install erosion control measures
  • Clear vegetation
  • Safely excavate soil around existing utilities
  • Safely excavate soil using trench boxes down to 12-15 feet
  • Load various size dump trucks working in roadways and shoulders with limited space
  • Place and compact effluent pipe bedding material
  • Pipeline installation and backfill
  • Compaction and backfilling trench
  • Refurbish and grade existing basins
  • Perform site restoration

Basic Qualifications:
  • Civil Construction: considerable experience utilizing excavator for trenching around existing utilities is required
  • Resume documenting verifiable experience is required showing minimum 3 years relevant construction experience
  • Ability to read survey stakes for alignment and grade
  • No Felonies
  • Clean driving record with valid license
  • Dependable transportation and cell phone
  • Must live within daily commute of Wantagh, New York
  • Able to pass drug screen and physical

Work Schedule:

  • 5 days/week with 8 hrs/day

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $40 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
