Position Title: Admissions Counselor Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Adm & Rctmt Coord II Job Duties: This position manages all student segments and all aspects of the college search and admissions process within the assigned geographic territory in alignment with the Strategic Enrollment Plan using data to inform work. The individual promotes UW-Stevens Point main, branch, and online campuses through representation at college fairs, UW System events, visits to middle/high schools, two-year colleges, community organizations, and virtual events, with extensive follow-up via meetings, phone, email, text, etc. to generate, complete, and yield applicants. This position works directly with students and families as well as guidance counselors, advisors, teachers, and community-based organizations. The individual in this position must effectively present the professional pathways created by a university education, serve as a UWSP brand ambassador, and be a source of detailed and accurate information on the admission process, costs and financing, UWSP’s academic programs and career outcomes, and its co-curricular learning and extra-curricular opportunities. **Full position description is available upon request. ** Key Job Responsibilities: Assist with university events sponsored by other departments for promotional or recruitment purposes as directed. Communicate consistently and effectively with prospective students and their families in person and via phone, email, text messaging, video messaging, and other communication platforms. Perform other duties as assigned by the Admissions and Recruitment Leadership team. Work collaboratively with colleagues in financial aid, advising, registrar, and other campus offices to ensure a consistent and smooth transition from applicant to enrolled student. Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures Represent the University at high schools, college and career fairs, professional conferences, and out in the community to increase public awareness of University programs and opportunities. Travel required, including nights and weekends. Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission Recruit a wide range of students from different backgrounds and communities for all University degree programs from high schools and community-based organizations for all three campus locations utilizing academic sales techniques. Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences Knowledge of University programs, departments, student services, higher education trends, policies and practices and maintain the knowledge through continuous independent learning and research. Independently seek out information and utilize best judgment during ambiguous situations. Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals Assist with campus events, including regularly scheduled presentations, through the direction of the Assistant Director of Recruitment and the Visit Coordinator. Occasional evening and weekend events are required. Events include large scale visits, daily presentations, one-on-one meetings, Saturday visits, virtual visits, and group visits. Department: The UW-Stevens Point Admissions and Recruitment team guides prospective students and their families through the application process. We answer their questions, help them navigate the next steps like financial aid, and plan visits for students to experience campus in person and see just how good a fit it truly is. Compensation: $43,000, minimum annually, based on qualifications and experience Required Qualifications: Valid driver’s license. Experience working in admissions, customer service, sales, or related fields. Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, written communication, and collaborative skills. Demonstrated time-management skills, ability to multitask, adapt, and meet deadlines. Ability to think critically and solve problems independently. Willingness to work in a fast past environment with the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, social sciences, humanities, or related fields. Recruitment experience. Comfortable with technology and customer relationship management systems (CRM - SLATE). Bilingual. Experience of operating technology-based platforms (i.e. Microsoft office suite).
